I needed a visually appealing numerical notation for marking test-pieces of my pottery. My makers's mark is , so I chose base-3. This notation is easy to apply to pottery as small dots of underglaze, slip, or by impressing it into leather-hard clay. To others, it might appear as just a small, abstract design.
